Shaver Lake
Shaver Lake is one of the most ideal all-around vacation lakes in California. The lake has everything from a picturesque setting to fabulous water skiing, from outstanding fishing to premier camping sites. Resting at an elevation of 5,300 feet, Shaver Lake is offers relief from oppressive summer heat of the valley. Shaver Lake's balmy 78-degree average high temperatures are perfect for swimming, lounging on the beach, and a myriad of water sports.
The Shaver Lake community is just large enough to offer a great selection of restaurants and services without suffering from congestion and tacky overdevelopment. For a family summer vacation destination, you couldn't ask for anything better.
Boating
Shaver Lake is a great boating lake for everyone from wakeboarders to sailors. Two Boat ramps offer quick access to the lake and acres of open water provide room for skiers, anglers, and personal watercraft. Boat rentals are available at a variety of places with a wide range of craft from which to choose.
Marinas
Shaver Lake has two large marinas, ample support for a lake of this size. Marine repairs are available as well as fuel and supplies. Boat rentals are offered at both establishments.
Fishing
Shaver Lake has 16 different species of fish. Anglers most often head to the lake in search of Kokanee salmon, trout, bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish.
Campgrounds
Camp Edison puts most other campgrounds in California to shame. Its lakeside campsites offer electricity and cable TV along with a host of family activities, all at moderate prices. The Forest Service also has a campground at the lake, along with several others nearby.
Lodging
Shaver Lake has several opportunities for lodging, most of them cabins. Some are simple one or two bedroom cabins, others are larger vacation homes. Nearby Huntington Lake has a half dozen resorts with more choices for lodging.
Scenery
Set among the pine forested mountains, Shaver Lake is among the leaders for scenery among California's popular recreation lakes.

The community of Shaver Lake has a variety of restaurants, stores, and services to meet the needs of mountain vacationers. For those in need of more specialized items, the 50-mile journey down the mountain to Fresno takes about an hour and fifteen minutes.
